Announcing the 2013 Battle of the Brands

So here’s the good news: Battle of the Brands is back, baby, and it’s better than ever!

Here’s the bad news: There is no bad news! Battle of the Brands is totally awesome fun for everyone. So if you’re into bad news, sad for you, because you won’t find it here.

Now back to the good news: This year’s field – selected by the esteemed Lessing-Flynn Brand Selection Committee – once again features 64 Iowa brands. Previous winners (The Iowa Clinic, The Principal Financial Group and Simpson College) have been enshrined in the Iowa Brand Hall of Fame and thus are no longer eligible to compete.

How it works: We’ve locked 64 Iowa brands into a college basketball tournament style bracket. Starting Monday, July 22, brand fans of all kinds (that means you!) will vote on brand-vs-brand matchups* over the course of several weeks to determine Iowa’s top brand. It’s Brand Madness of the craziest caliber!

 

The Stakes: The last brand standing will be crowned Brand Champion of the World (or of Iowa anyway) and receive $5,000 in marketing support from Lessing-Flynn to be donated to a charitable organization of its choice. Marketing support can come in the form of graphic design, copywriting, social media consulting, brand strategy development, interactive/web design or other marketing services. Whatever the chosen charity needs to build brand awareness and further its cause. Last year’s winner Simpson College selected Children and Family Urban Ministries to receive these services.

The Field: By this point you’re probably itching to see the bracket for the 4th Annual Battle of the Brands. Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait another day. Tune in tomorrow (Thursday, July 18) and see which brands will battle in the opening round.
