Welcome to Lessing-Flynn, Bailey Core!

For a girl with a passion for agriculture and advertising, what is a more perfect fit than an internship at Lessing-Flynn?

As I work into my third week on my new internship at Lessing-Flynn, my excitement for the summer to come continues to grow. You know that you really love what you are doing and experiencing when you find yourself thinking about it on the drive home, while you're working on your farm, when you're eating supper, oh yeah…and still when you lay down to go to sleep at night.

A little about me...

I’m from Pleasantville, Iowa, and still live with my family on our cattle operation. This May I finished my freshman year at Iowa State University (Yes… I am a proud Cyclone!) At ISU, I am currently double majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture Communications. My plan is to graduate from Iowa State in May of 2016 or before, then potentially pursue a Masters Degree in Ag Communications.

Bailey Core 2I earned the chance to join the team at Lessing-Flynn, gaining my first internship -but more importantly - the chance to learn from many professional role models. During my first few weeks at LF I have dabbled in a variety of different jobs including: writing press releases, sitting in on conference calls, editing magazine articles, creating media reports and social media plans, as well as other public relations efforts.

Some of my previous experiences in the world of advertising and marketing include being selected as one of the nationwide youth team members for the DRIVE Magazine of Haskell, Texas. Along with that, I was recognized as a Ranch House Design Scholar where I was invited to participate in a one year mentorship program with this nationally recognized livestock advertising agency.

When I am not in the office at LF, you most likely can find me in the barn. I am proud to say that I was born on a livestock operation and have been showing cattle since the age of four. This summer I will be traveling to many different states showing cattle and representing the National Maine Anjou Junior Board of Directors, where I currently serve as the President. In high school I was very active in the FFA Chapter, 4H Club, and the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association, and have also been active in Iowa State University’s Block and Bridle Club during my first year of college.

I believe that challenges can only make you better, and hard work gets a person further than anything. I am excited for the experiences and opportunities that are in front of me as I continue the rest of the summer at Lessing-Flynn.
