Tom Flynn

President & Principal

Tom introduces himself as “the fourth-generation Flynn president whose job is to not screw up the agency that’s been around since 1907.” If that’s his job, he’s pretty darn good at it. Since becoming president in 2007, Tom has navigated Lessing-Flynn through the best of times (a 2019 Top Workplace in Iowa) and the worst of times (the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic). Maybe it’s because he understands every aspect of the agency from the bottom to the top. Tom started as the office janitor, emptying ashtrays and dumping garbage cans. From there, he went on to become a print production manager, a copywriter and an account manager before finally taking his seat in the big chair — talk about working your way up! In addition to leading day-to-day agency operations, he’s involved in a number of marketing and nonprofit organizations in the community. Tom learned from his dad that this business is all about relationships, and that when you work hard, think creatively and treat people well, success will follow.
